Singing The Music of Dreams
by Den Lebantino

November 17, 2005

With tears in her eyes, she had to say, “Maong, akin p ‘yung kanta.”

Riding alone in a taxi cab, Sheryn could not explain her joy as she heard the song closest to her heart, Come In Out Of The Rain. She had to tell the driver that the song playing over the radio was hers.

After years of practicing her passion, the Cebuana belter who used to be a theater singer, lounge performer and an amateur singing contest veteran has sought her way to a brighter path. Shining very brightly in Star In A Million, Sheryn was predicted to be the Grand Champion. But she lost to Erik Santos and from then she had to go through one of her life’s most trying times. Going back to Cebu, she thought her dream had gone to a dismal fall. But heaven always has its means to open doors for deserving individuals like Sheryn. ABS-CBN asked her to do regular guestings at MTB and everything has come to recognize and love Sheryn as a singer through the songs that have achieved phenomenal feat. Her platinum record album has brought us Come In Out Of The Rain, Kailan Kaya, Maybe, and Follow Your Dream, the song that made her stand out among the contenders of the Voice of Asia held Kazakhstan. Her vocal prowess has undeniably put her name into the league of young belters the Philippines has today. She has proven her caliber as a performer via her concerts held at Music Museum and at the Cebu Coliseum. She is also part of the highly successful US tours alongside Sara, Erik, Rachelle, Mark, Christian and Frenchie.

Needless to say, Sheryn is one name the Philippine music industry can always be proud of. Her latest single What I Do Best is currently a radio and MTV favorite. This comes from her latest album which also carries the covers I Don’t Want You To Go, When You Tell Me That You Love Me, and Try It On My Own.
