K BROSAS

"My goal is to show that I'm first and foremost a singer who just happens to be funny, too," K explained. "I'll do a variety of songs including rock and rap. I also wrote the script with the help of director Floy Quintos."

A singer who just happens to be funny
by: Jocelyn R. Uy

November 24, 2005

SINGER-COMEDIENNE K BROSAS didn't only win a few thousand pesos when she recently topped a game portion on "Eat... Bulaga!" as a celebrity contestant; she was also able to renew ties with one of the noontime show's hosts, Gladys Guevarra.

"It served as an icebreaker because we hadn't seen each other in a while," K told Inquirer Entertainment. "People assume that we're not in good terms just because they don't see us together. Whenever there's a bad write-up about us, she sends me a text message and I text her back. I admit, though, that we're not very close."

In 2000, the two comedians started working together as members of the comedy-musical group, Gladys and the Boxers with K, which was renamed K and the Boxers when Gladys quit in 2003. Though Gladys cited personal reasons for her departure, tongues continued to wag about her supposed rift with K.

After performing together recently in a production number on "SOP," K said people seemed to finally believe they're okay.

"We even get offers to do back-to-back shows."

K takes the limelight solo in a concert tonight at the Music Museum but guess who's giving her a big boost of confidence? Gladys has bought 10 tickets and promotes the gig on "Eat... Bulaga!" according to the star of "K Bro: Alive."

The other members of Boxers--Daniel Larrazabal, Cris Samonte and Shanna Hife--are just as supportive, said K. They will join her in a couple of numbers. Other guest performers are Rufa Mae Quinto, Kyla, Erik Santos and Keanna Reeves.

"My goal is to show that I'm first and foremost a singer who just happens to be funny, too," K explained. "I'll do a variety of songs including rock and rap. I also wrote the script with the help of director Floy Quintos."
